Finding the perfect Valentine’s Day gift can be something of a minefield. Having pulled out all of the stops for Christmas the sudden arrival of February 14th, can bring with it unexpected stress and pres-sure. Not the best emotions to feel when you’re trying to find your romantic side!
To help ease the angst I’ve pulled together five of my favourite tips for buying gifts for those you love, on the day of love. Hopefully David will give it a little read before the big day!
1. Think small
For some Valentine’s Day is all about the big gestures such as marriage proposals, but over the years I’ve come to think of it as a time to consider the smaller details. Breakfast in bed can be just as romantic as any glamorous piece of jewellery (although that’s very nice too!) A beautifully presented tray with hot croissants, fresh orange juice and a stunning bunch of flowers can really get the day off to the best of starts. For me it shows thought, consideration - and great style. Just what I like.

2. Be creative
When you’ve been married as long as David and I have (can’t believe it will be 28 years this year!) picking an original present can take some thought! I’ve certainly had to put my think-ing cap on over the years. Remembering special dates, and creating those memories, has been at the heart of the business for years. And I can think of nothing better than a beautiful picture, in an equally exquisite frame, to really show that romance is alive and well. But if all else fails, a delicious supper, a glass of chilled Marlborough white and a great laugh will certainly suffice.

3. Choose style over substance
Valentine’s Day certainly calls for a more intimate present. Something to capture your partner’s imagination in a subtle yet stylish way. We’ve all heard of the saying, ‘the best things come in small packages’ and I think it was made for this day. Take time with the wrapping too. I love seeing a beautifully wrapped gift but if you’re all fingers and thumbs with sellotape and paper, why not ask the experts to help. Colourful tissue paper, pretty ribbons and a gorgeous box is al-most as exciting as the gift itself!
We offer Free Delivery and Gift packaging. Order by midday and we will deliver your order next working day, beautifully gift boxed. UK only.
4. Put them first:
What does your partner really like? It may seem like an obvious question but when choosing a gift that is both romantic and thoughtful, you really have got to put their tastes before your own. Would a Wild Lily Scented Candle bring back the scents of your exotic honeymoon or could a Carbon Fibre Frame make your motor sport made hubby very happy? Taste is a very personal thing, but choosing theirs, rather than yours on Valentine’s Day is the key to success.

5. Don’t panic.
I know as soon as I start panicking about a gift, my common sense can go out of the window. What was once a terrible idea, now becomes the best one I’ve ever had. To avoid buying something you instantly dislike do your research. Really think about what shops they love - and which ones they don’t - and start browsing. Check out gift ranges online. You’re sure to find something you like. And most importantly get a little organised too - I can’t think of one present I’ve bought with minutes to spare, that I haven’t later regretted!
